Golf pro extraordinaire Arnold Palmer designed the Birkdale Golf Club, and once you head out on the course, his masterful touch will become more and more obvious. This course features several water hazards to look out for. Additionally, even more challenges await thanks to the deeply set greens that are strategically surrounded by cleverly situated bunkers. The fairways are book-ended by some ominous, rough shots at times, so the key to success on this course are crisp shots and a precise long ball.

Sharpen your game when you hit the links at the Highland Creek Golf Club. Long shots are the key in this very hill-filled course, and the variety of angles make some of the holes play even longer. The large greens are somewhat of a consolation, but once you get that far they are known to be quick, so you may have the shot get completely away from you if you chip or putt with even a little more force than the shot requires.

The Ballantyne Country Club course is one of Charlotte's most well-regarded private golf courses. This highly challenging course is rife with water hazards throughout the entire span of its 18 holes, so be prepared for one obstacle after another. Accuracy and focus are the keys to success on this course, and even though the greens are average sized, they present several underlying shifts that will make even the most confident shots swerve unexpectedly.
